My husband isn't much of a reader, but when I start laughing out loud and say, "Oh my God, it's my cop guy, Lucas, saying blah blah," he's already smiling because he knows what is coming is gonna be outrageously cynical and funny as hell. I fell in love with John Sandford and Lucas, and then Kidd, as soon as I
discovered him/them, like, 25 years ago. I own them all, hard or paper, and after I started reading the first one I found, I put it down, quickly went to the library and began with the first in the series. Those of you Davenport/Kidd virgins are in for a hugely addictive ride. His book, "Night Crew," is also really good. I've just started to get into the Virgil Flowers series, and so far, if you are a Flowers fan, you'll like them, too. As far as Clara Rinker goes, I think she's one of the most complex and well written villains I've ever read. I can't help it - I've rooted for her (yes, I know. It means I'm rooting for Lucas to lose.) since the first 2 or 3 pages of her appearance, and I'd love to have her come back and frustrate and thwart Davenport again. He can't help it - he admires her, you know. I got four books behind due to life ba, and I've had to force myself to read a book or two in between just to keep from ruining the pleasure. Apropos of great authors and addictive rides, Dick Francis is another author y'all should give a look to. Start with the oldest you can find. He doesn't have a single character he follows, but each hero is always someone you want to win. Like Sandford, his plots are always intense and fast-paced, and the characters true to life, and he just gets better and better.

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09026712567212742851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8088414462866645386.post-83135436007116408272012-05-04T10:58:38.675-04:002012-05-04T10:58:38.675-04:00Stolen Prey is out on May 15th? With a vacation coming up I'm hoping to knock out 3-4 books from my TBR pile to make way for some John Sandford.Howard Shermanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13757175306576727848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8088414462866645386.post-5398487135945361442012-04-20T20:54:01.046-04:002012-04-20T20:54:01.046-04:00I am intrigued also, will put this series on my li...I am intrigued also, will put this series on my list!
