Giveaway Days: WHO DAT? (A second clue.)
Still trying to give away four books. No one correctly guessed WHO DAT author from the first clue, so I'll now provide a second clue which should lead everyone down the correct garden path.
And it'll be well worth your time to win today. The books I'm giving away are the first four titles in the new Pocket Black Lizard series from Vintage: BLIND MAN'S ALLEY (Justin Peacock); LAYOVER IN DUBAI (Dan Fesperman); DEAD LINE (Stella Rimington); and THE GARDEN OF BETRAYAL (Lee Vance).
Again, don't be afraid to take a wild guess: no one here is going to make fun of you. I won't let them. Remember, you only need to identify the author, not the book. Leave your guess in a comment (and make sure I can contact you in case you, you know, win or something.
Before I give you the new clue, let me refresh your memory as to the previous clue:

"He was a snitch. Not a very good one. But the vast machinery of policing needs a few key ingredients:And now here's your second clue (and by the way, these two clues do not come from the same book). Tell me WHO DAT wrote this:
a) Ignorance, b) Complicity, c) Poor wages, d) Snitches.
Or so the received wisdom goes. He was what the Americans call 'of challenged stature'. He was short. And he fuckin' hated that."
"Grogan's is not the oldest pub in Galway. It's the oldest unchanged pub in Galway.Good luck!

I thought Ken Bruen too. eric(dot)beetner(At)gmail
Definitely Ken Bruen.
Clearly Ken Bruen. I thought it might be him from the first, but wasn't confident enough to say so.

I vote Ken Bruen, too. Wish I'd seen the first clue, the list would've tipped it.
Now I'm waffling. But, no...it's got to be Bruen. Right? Maybe not.
And I'm an idiot. No dot in my email name. Can't do it the fancy way.
Thanks to everyone for hanging in there and playing along. Ken Bruen is our WHO DAT? author in this round, and the winner of the four titles from Pocket Black Lizard is Matthew McBride. A new round of WHO DAT? will be posted momentarily, with a new book by Michael Ridpath up for grabs.
Ken Bruen for sure.
Absolutely.
No doubt.
